Grozny, Capital of the Chechen Republic in Russia
Grozny lies on the Sunzha River, about 80 km east of the Greater Caucasus range. The city was rebuilt after near-total destruction in the 1990s and now features the Akhmad Kadyrov Mosque and Grozny City Towers in its central Staropromyslovsky District.

Grozny is the administrative center of Chechnya, located in southern Russia along the Sunzha River.
The city was heavily damaged during the Chechen wars but has undergone extensive reconstruction since the early 2000s. Key landmarks include one of Russia's largest mosques and a modern high-rise complex that reshaped the skyline.
Access is via Grozny Airport 7 km north of downtown, with regular domestic flights connecting to Moscow and other cities.
Akhmad Kadyrov Mosque
Opened in 2008, it holds up to 10,000 worshippers inside and another 10,000 in the courtyard, making it one of Russia’s largest mosques.
Grozny City Towers
This mixed-use complex includes towers up to 145 meters tall and is a prominent feature of Grozny’s postwar rebuilt skyline.
Grozny City Day
Held annually on October 5, the celebration features concerts and fireworks, often coinciding with Chechen Republic’s Day.
